blinking/solid blue IPs 17-09-2008 04:24
Trying to set this up... Ive tried everything and cannot figure this one out.

My buddy and I's IPs are constantly either solid blue, or blinking blue. Reinstalled everything, behind NO firewalls, im on Vista64 and hes on Vista32, we are not using a router, tried EVERYTHING in he forums with zero luck... what could be happening?

ok, so now I try to install 64 adapter again (bare in mind it worked the first time) and it passes everything (because i turned off the license check) and it fails due to corrupt files? ugh...

ok, correction! apparently F8 during start up is the only way to allow the use of unsigned drivers :-( cmd editing wont work... so now I'm back where the original post sits:

-blinking/solid blue IP address next to buddy with the "<< unable to create VPN>>" error

-NO FIREWALLS OR ROUTERS are being used at all...

-my connection is through a Cable modem that is permanently installed into the apt. building (but I have checked with the provider and there are zero restrictions on usage... plus hamachi and used to work fine on the same connection)

-i've done all the tips/tricks I can think of, including the block/unblock buddy (which actually my buddy never turns red... perhaps another issue?), resetting our IPs, messing with the IP settings such as setting the IP option to "configured outside this program"

***on a side note, if I use the miniVPN client, an error shows up about finding the Wippien Network Adapter... despite it showing up and being found and used by the regular Wippien client***

thanks a ton for taking time to read and help me with this issue!!!

Gekko,

assuming you use latest version of Wippien, are you sure UDP isn't blocked in some way?

UDP is definitely not blocked... and yes, both machines have the most recent client

Thanks for taking time with this!

Actually, I just realized that one of the computers is using a NETGEAR router... I feel like a retard for not realizing this :-/

Gekko,

I don't have explanation. UDP punching should work unless, for some reason, router uses random port allocation. If that is enabled, then you will be lucky to get connected :) WHat you could do is route all UDP traffic to your computer (if you're behind NAT). Perhaps you should try that, for a test at least?
