Hi, I am now happily using wippien to access 'shared folders" on a W2K server at my office -- while I sit here at home with my 3 dogs . Before using wippien, I relied on FTP -- but not having access via the File Explorer is a hassle (and I wanted a secure connection, too). I tried Hamachi, and was not able to get it to work, even in my simple configuration. Their "support forum" was of no help. Seems the Hamachi crowd is overly focused on sharing iTunes. I see that wippien is free, so why do you have a "sales" department? Does wippien accept donations? How do you guys stay in business? Now, here's my technical question: how can I keep wippien running all the time ("24x7") on my W2K server box? Can I run it as a service?

John, you can't run Wippien as a service. I personally run it as regular user, have put it in 'startup' group, and I set my user to autologin on WIndows, so after reboot wippien fires too. I think that may work for you too. As for 'sales department' - you never know who may need special kind of Wippien, or want to do something more of it. How do we make money from it? We don't We make money from other things (www.weonlydo.com) and Wippien is my personal baby project. It's pure fun. Kreso

Kreso, Thank you for your reply -- and especially for wippien! For my W2K server, I think I will do as you suggest, and leave "administrator" logged-in to the console with wippien running. The machine is in a server closet at my office (locked up), so I'm not worried about anyone getting onto the console. Here are a couple of questions (add them to the FAQ?) 1. What is the AES key size used by wippien? 2. What is the origin of the name "wippien"? thanks!

I'm glad you like Wippien. We use AES128 which is more than enough (today..) for encryption. Wippien name comes from VPN - when you say it out loud it *almost* sounds like "Wippien". Kreso

if you were worried, and running winxp or above you could use Fast User Switching and just have it automatically log you off.
