Has anyone made any performance test between hamachi and wippien? which one is faster? latency? bandwidth?

I don't think there will be any difference.

Socket pump is really easiest part of the whole code in Wippien, I think it's same with Hamachi. Whatever comes to the socket is sent to other side "as is" through UDP. There are no interferences of any kind in the code.

So, in theory (and in practice), speed of Wippien (and I believe Hamachi too) is same as speed of network where it is used.

Testing on my old PC (650 MHz), hamachi's performance was better. Gaming via wippien is laggy even on my new, 6GHz PC. (mean Half Life and CS)

i am nearly sure that both work with same speed. unfortunately hamachi is really often down... -.- so i use wippien most time. there are seldom lags with aoe III, EE II, Civ IV, Trackmania or Grid^^

Currently, I don't use Hamachi or Wiuppien. I use the Windows XP's VPN support, it works nice even on my old PC. However, it lacks features but is very useful for gaming.

Yes... I also did some testing.
Hamachi performed better -especially in "high-speed" file-transfer >8MBit/s. It seems that the virtual adapter limits the speeds to approx. 10Mbit/s. I tested on 1Gbit/s LAN which usually reches up to 600Mbit/s.
With Wippien it reached only approx. 10Mbit/s.
One System, my Laptop, uses 32bit XP and the other (Server) uses x64 Server03.

So... for Internet-usage (which is the sense of Wippien) it doesn't matter. However for future development I strongly recommend improving/tweaking the Network-drivers to support at least 100Mbit/s.
I can do testing again... but atm. I've only 100Mbit/s available.
