Hmm, if you cannot even see friends online, this is XMPP issue, you didn't even reach VPN area. How about if you try with some other client, such as Exodus. Can you see your friends with it?

I don't think Hamachi uses XMPP, so it's not related to this issue.

Did you start, at least once, Wippien as admin?

It's strange - you should at least see contacts, this is not related to VPN capabilities at all. If exodus sees them as online, then Wippien should see them too. Can you send me your JID and password to kreso-at-wippien-dot-com?

And, any ideas, clues on what it could be?

Solution: Make Unidentifed Network Private 07-01-2010 02:11
Quote:
Just if it might be useful for anyone who ran into the same issue: I solved the problem by changing the TCP/IP configurations of my Weppien . This involved manual entering my weppien IP as fixed, manual entering the default gateway, and under Advanced TCP/IP settings, changing "Automatic metric" to a manual entered number of 9000.

By the way, I learned this trick from the Hamachi forum for a similar problem that bugged Hamachi.

I ran into this as well, and it proved to be very annoying because I always had to turn on network discovery and file sharing because the Wippien adapter was reset every time I turned on my PC. I ran into this with another program as well (it may even have been with Hamachi) and after a lot of looking I found a few different simple answers:

Answer #1:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

It makes the Wippien network adapter private permanently. Didn't work for me, only worked until I rebooted.

Answer #2:
Do the same thing as described int he link in Answer #1, but add a DWORD called NisDeviceType and make the value 1.

This worked in the past, but not this time.

Answer #3:
Found this one in another technet forum:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpr onetworking/thread/5e9a21ae-a116-4584-a917-2a0c244e0de7

The idea is that you modify the IPV4 properties of the network adapter and make the default gateway IP the same as another computer on your Wippien VPN.

THIS ONE WORKED FOR ME!

I hope these solutions help someone else!
