I would like to be able to store Wippien on my USB drive, and launch it.
With the settings being kept intact.

Is this possible?

We have one user that is currently trying to make portable wippien. If it becomes available, I will put that online.

If on the pc on which you want run Wippien the virtual wippien network device is installed, you can do this. Just go to the wippien settings and set the directory for the configuration data to your usb stick (the path is stored in the registry as an encrypted 128bit aes key)

IF it's installed yes, how often do you come at locations where that's the case?

The project is on a hold for a bit because i have little time, and the new wippien changed some significant things.

Then just install the device from your usb stick.
Ok use this as a workaround:

First copy your config and the drvinst.exe (you get it from the wippien sources) to the usb stick .
Then export the registry entry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREKresimir PetricWippien) via regedit. Save the reg file to the usb stick.


then Create a batch:

DrvInst.exe iwip %tmp%OemWin2k.inf
mkdir %appdata%Wippien
copy Wippien.config %appdata%Wippien
thisisthenameoftheregfile.reg

Now you just have to run the batch on the target system. After this you can use wippien.

Creating portable applications is not this simple, this could work, yes.

But the idea is (at least mine is) that a portable application leaves no traces behind at the target PC, no files, no drivers, no registry entries.

Also some components of wippien have to be registered in windows to work properly. (you can also do this by importing a BIIIIIG list of registry entries)

actually, besides Wippien Network adapter, nothing else is needed in teh registry anymore. I staticaly link all required components now.

actually, you could code a vpn that tunnels to your computer at home (with a public ip) from another computer using the PPTP protocol. assuming the client computer is windows, as it already has this support built in and without the need to install any software (wikkipedia).

this is just an idea to help and may a lot of require time to build.
