And big WIppien for WIndows works ok with your account, and WippienIM3 resource?

As I only use Linux (Ubuntu 8.10), I cannot test if it'd work.

I hope, the Linux client will soon be mature enough to be used without big Wippien. I'd be content, if I could use the command line client to list contacts and networks(?), to create, to login into and to logoff off VPNs, and to add contacts. Also, it should output status of networks and contacts.

I used Hamachi before, so I assume Wippien has equal functionality. If MiniVPN provided these informations, it should be possible to write a simple GUI for it, maybe TCL/TK or GTK+. But this is an entirely different topic.

Gmail forces SSL, currently XMPP library I use doesn't have it implemented. Wippien.com doesn't. That's probably the reason.

I had the same problem.I was trying to login into jabber.org
So say for example i was giving the command
Code:

./wipclnt

This did not work .As it kept on complaining about realm not found etc.
Anyways to make it work i had to give the realm like the way you would give in say pidgin.

Code:

./wipclnt

The above syntax worked but my next problem is that wipclnt is using up 70-80% of CPU.don't know why.
Also i am not able to figure out how to connect to other people on the linux client.
Will keep on trying.
Thanks for this cool software.I really appreciate it.

Exactly same things here, and it ate up one whole core!

The same full jid "user@host/resource" connects from two different sources. The server usually disconnects the old one. Though some servers (OpenFire comes to mind) may make it configurable.
If a client has admin right, using adhoc commands, it can destroy another connection. It depends on the server implementation. (ejabberd makes that possible)

Hi,
I am trying from Ubuntu 8.10 installed on a MacBook with following:
Linux version 2.6.27-9-generic

network cards:
Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Marvell Yukon 88E8058 PCI-E Gigabit
wirelless Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n

Macbook version:
SantaRosa 3.1

Wippien for linux last version download from this site
2 files: wipclnt & wiptun

Firewall Firestarter switched OFF

I start before wiptun: ./wiptun
and after wipclnt: ./wipclnt password

What I recieve is:
from wipclnt:

IP 5.0.xxx.xxx
Netmask 255.0.0.0
MAC xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Disconnected from XMPP server

From wiptun:

Got IP 5.0.xxx.xxx
Got Netmask 255.0.0.0
Interface wip0 4
Leaving...

If I use the script suggested from one user on this forum, I recieved the same error:

IP 5.0.xxx.xxx
Netmask 255.0.0.0
MAC xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Disconnected from XMPP server
Connection failed
Terminate TUN Driver process by PID: pts/0
./script.sh: line 33: kill: pts/0: arguments must be process or job IDs

Anyone have the same issue?
any solution?
any kind of hint?

thank you
